A to Z In-Home Tutoring provides one-on-one tutoring to students in their homes and is seeking great tutors to work as independent contractors (self-employed tutor) in various states and locations. As an A to Z tutor, you will experience a flexible and well-paying part time job as well as the opportunity to work with children and youth, making a measurable impact in your community.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Is this online tutoring?
No! We provide in-home tutors, meaning you go to the child's home. All homes are carefully screened to ensure your safety and comfort. All scheduling is done between you and your family, making our program very flexible for both tutor and client. In Arizona and Pennsylvania, we tutor in groups after-school at the child's school.
2. Who can apply?
Applicants must simply have completed 60+ college hours and be able to pass a fingerprint background check.
3. What happens when I apply?
If you meet our initial qualifications, you will be prompted to create a username and password that will give you access to our online training and orientation program. You will also receive a confirmation e-mail that your application has been received. Our online training takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and will give you a great overview of tutoring with A to Z. You may stop the training at any time and start back in the section you were in when you left. When you complete the training, you will then be prompted to complete a short online resume and review our independent contractor agreement. The whole process is quite easy and fun!
4. How many hours per week will I be working?
Your hours per week will be determined by the number of clients you tutor. Most tutors work between three and twelve hours per week.
5. How long will it be until I'm ready to start tutoring?
Although our training and hiring process is immediate, it may be days or weeks or even months before you have your first client. Because we work primarily with various government programs, our schedule for tutoring is often dictated by funding cycles. It may take up to three months before our program is given the green light to begin working with local students. Priority for client assignments is given to those tutors who have been waiting the longest. We only contract tutors in areas where we expect to be tutoring soon.
6. What about my unanswered questions?
Most questions about our company, how we operate and our expectations for tutors will be answered in the Online Training. However, you may contact our Human Resource division at any time for further information.
If you have any further questions before you get started, feel free to contact dave.donahue@atoztutoring.com. Dave will be your contact person throughout the application and training process.
